Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our team and then ferried to Thimpu (7710 ft) the capital of Bhutan. Next, you will check in to your hotel. In the evening, you will take a walk around Thimpu to explore the city, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Thimpu.
After breakfast, you will visit Kuensel Phodrang, the world’s largest sitting Buddha statue, from where you can have the best views of Thimpu Valley, National Memorial Chorten (Stupas) – a memorial to His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the father of modern Bhutan. Next is the Folk Heritage Museum which provides insights into the living art and life of rural Bhutan. In the afternoon, you will visit the Takin Preserve Centre, where you will get to the Takin which is the country’s national animal.
After breakfast, drive to Paro and check into the hotel upon arrival. After this, you will proceed to visit the National Museum which features a diverse collection ranging from religious paintings to natural history. Next, you will visit the 17th-century fortress known as Paro Dzong. After this, you will get to walk across the Tachog Lhakhang Bridge which is the oldest bridge in the country having been built in the late 1300s. In the evening, you can stroll across the town and explore some local handicraft stores. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can provide other options of activities to enjoy in Paro.
After breakfast, visit the famous Taktsang Monastery, famously known as “Tiger’s Nest” (2hrs hike from basecamp for seasoned trekkers). Those who are not accustomed to Himalayan treks may rest for the day. For those who are unable to make it to Tiger’s Nest, we will provide an optional visit to Kichu Monastery and Drukgyel Dzong.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and you will be transported to Paro Airport for your journey back home.
