Embark on a wildlife odyssey in the pristine rainforests of Borneo, home to several unique endemic species like pygmy elephants, orangutans, and proboscis monkeys. After arrival at the airport, proceed to the hotel for check-in. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
You will be picked up from your hotel lobby and proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. After arrival, you will view a short video screening at the Nature Education Centre. Next, proceed to the viewing platform through the forest. Observe the Orang Utan habitat and watch the feeding session at a close distance. Meet and learn about the inhabitants of these sanctuaries and learn about the work being done for their conservation. Post-lunch proceed to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Here you will be able to get uclose to the world’s smallest bear in its natural habitat. Information boards are hanging at the centre’s walkways displaying facts about the bears. You may also get a better view of the bears by using the binoculars at the viewing platform.
Visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre, developed by the Sabah Forestry Department to get a clear insight into the rainforest and all its wonders. You can get a breath-taking view of the rainforest of Sepilok from the 347-meter canopy which is 25 meters above the ground. Walk atop tall trees of the rainforest and get a peek at life high up in the canopy. Look out for birds, epiphytes, and squirrels, and if you are lucky you may even see a wild orangutan. And finally, conclude the day with a visit to the Plant Discovery Garden before returning back to your hotel for dinner.
You will be picked up from Sandakan City and proceed to Kinabatangan River. A dawn or dusk trip up the river will give a good opportunity to experience Borneo’s wildlife. The duration of the journey is about 2-3 hours and will take you across rustic countryside. Once you arrive at the resort, you will be greeted by the resort staff and served with refreshments. After this, you will be given a briefing and overview of the resort routes and safety, and then check in to your room. At 1600 hours, you will embark on a thrilling adventure to spot the elusive Proboscis Monkey, Silver-Leaf Monkey, Orangutan, Crocodiles, Macaques and more.
Be greeted by the calls of forest birds and gibbons. Row along Kinabatangan River in search of wild birds and other animals. Return to the lodge after the morning’s exploration and enjoy your breakfast after freshening up. Then go on a one-hour jungle trek within the resort area, followed by lunch. Post-lunch you will have some relaxation time before your next adventure. In the late afternoon, you will cruise along Sabah’s longest river and experience one of the most distinct habitats in Borneo’s rainforest and then return to the resort for dinner.
Begin the day with another early morning cruise along the Batangan River and observe more birds and other wildlife. Breakfast will be back at the resort after which you will check out at 8 AM and depart on your journey back to Sandakan City.
